Perhaps the importance of dryland training for your young athlete is not expressed enough. But at NHTC, we want to help our hockey parent community gain awareness of our off-ice hockey training in Langley.
Thanks to the recent addition of the NHTC Academy, we have been able to further expand our ability for dryland training. This facility is able to help passionate athletes work towards their goals, and achieving goals is something that we too are passionate about. Which is why we have introduced multiple NHTC Academy synthetic and gym/strength classes too, to fit the growing needs of our hockey enthusiasts!
The Importance of Dryland Training
When it comes to training within the sport of hockey; not all skill development is best served on the ice. There is a multitude of benefits to dryland training, including:
- Speed
- Stability
- Flexibility
- Power
- Injury Prevention
- Stamina & Overall Health
When it comes to speed, a large majority is based on stamina. Which is where cardio and being “in shape” comes it to assist. However, this isn’t marathon style cardio, but rather short sprints and large bursts of energy in short sequence cycles. This requires specific training by specific coaches who understand such methods – and we have those coaches ready to help your athlete achieve their goals!

The facility includes a half-sized ice rink and a large synthetic ice area that can be used for shooting, skills, and goalie training. It is also equipped with a full gym that houses off-ice training for groups and teams.
The ice is well suited for private/small group training and goalie training. NHTC Programs at the Academy Rink are listed together with our Main Rink Programs.
